MCFC

Last weekend, I attended Motor City Furry Con and had an absolute blast! It was fun to hang out with friends, see the other art surrounding me and, of course, sell my crochet. I’d like to take a moment to say a special thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth and said hello to me in Artist Alley. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all! I always love behind behind my table to meet all the new faces and fellow crafters!

Honestly, though, hanging out with my friends at the convention was the highlight of it as it is any event.

The only down side was when we were woken up early Sunday morning due to a bomb threat. I hate those and this is the 2nd year in a row for this to happen. We did learn our lesson from last year, however, and immediately got in our cars and left the premises in search of breakfast. Soon after, our friends called us and invited us to the perfect breakfast place: Bombers. Let me tell you, this place was epic! The best breakfast I’ve had in a while and the portions were huge! It used to serve the near by B-24 bomber factory back during WWII and it still serves today. I highly recommend the place! I mean, look at this breakfast! That’s a butter pad in the top right for scale.

After that, we explored a bit and found something from Atlas Obscura (I love that website) which is the water tower that everyone calls The Brick Dick and I can totally see why. LOL!

After nearly 4 hours, they finally let us back in the building. The panel I was hosting for people who crochet, knit, sew, or do any other kind of needlework, was half way over by the time they let us back in, so only a few people were able to attend. It was fine, though. I still had a few attendees and hope to try again next year! I’m happy to have had those who were able to make it. :)

After all of that, it was time to leave for home. It was the day before the eclipse and we live in Ohio, so we knew the traffic would be horrible the next day. I was thrilled to find out after we got home, though, that the charity the convention was raising money for raised over $24,000!

I look forward to next year as this has truly become my favorite convention to attend. I can’t wait for next year and I also can’t wait to go back to Bombers for breakfast! That place has become a must go to for us, bomb threat or not!
